We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Curriculum Customization: Every student learns differently and needs a tailored approach. We looked at how well each business adjusts their lesson plans to fit individual knowledge gaps.

Scheduling Flexibility: Busy families need sessions that fit seamlessly into their routines. We evaluated the availability of weekend hours and online options to ease the scheduling burden.

Instructor Expertise: Math is incredibly complex and requires a deep conceptual understanding to teach effectively. We thoroughly assessed the educational backgrounds and practical teaching experience of the tutors at each center.

Progress Tracking: Seeing tangible results is vital for maintaining a student's motivation and confidence. We prioritized services that provide regular assessments and clear parent reports to ensure the learning stays on track.

Finding the right support for your child or yourself can feel overwhelming when math gets tough. Parents seeking small group sessions for their children and adult learners tackling college courses both see significant benefits from finding the right instructor.

Busy families need flexible options that fit into packed schedules without adding stress.

The search for the best math tutor in Denver doesn’t have to be a headache. I explored local centers and private instructors to find the most reliable choices for any learning style.

Wash Park Tutoring provides personalized support for students in Denver’s competitive schools. Tutors help with homework while also building study habits and executive functioning skills for long-term success.

When I hired them last year for my daughter’s SAT prep, the personalized tutor matching process made a big difference in her confidence and motivation.

On top of that, the tutors are knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping students succeed. They were flexible with our schedule and even met us at a local library for sessions.

Because the service is locally focused and more boutique in nature, the hourly rates tend to be higher than those of national tutoring centers. There can also be a waiting list during busy midterm seasons since their team is relatively small.

Pros

  • Highly qualified subject matter experts
  • Personalized tutor matching process
  • Flexible in-home or library scheduling
  • Focuses on executive functioning skills

Cons

  • Higher hourly rates than national franchises
  • Limited primary service area
  • Potential waitlists during peak seasons

Wash Park Tutoring has been excellent to work with!
Wash Park Tutoring has been excellent to work with!  My daughter’s tutor is always right on time, responds quickly to questions, and has overall be a great fit.  My daughter is in 8th grade and has found math challenging with her current teacher.  In her words, “the only reason I’m learning any math this year is because of Jamie.” 🙂

They were super helpful and very responsive
We used tutoring services from Wash Park Tutoring and they were super helpful, very responsive, and understanding with time changes. The Tutor we got works in another school, which was super helpful so she understood the math that my daughter was working with. I definitely would recommend reaching out to them if you have tutoring needs! There are flexible times and they will come to your house.

2. Mathnasium

Many students struggle with math when they rely on memorizing steps instead of understanding the concepts. Mathnasium addresses this problem with an assessment-based curriculum that builds strong number sense and confidence.

After the initial assessment, instructors create a personalized learning plan and regularly reassess progress so lessons continue at the right pace. This approach can be especially helpful for students who deal with math anxiety.

I also appreciate how this program includes a rewards system that motivates kids and makes learning feel more like a game.

Another plus is their flexible membership plans with both in-center and virtual tutoring options, which work well for busy families. The program is effective for strengthening foundational math skills and preparing for standardized tests.

However, sessions take place in a small group setting with about a one-to-four instructor ratio, so students may not always receive constant one-on-one attention.

Pros

  • Reassesses students every 90 days
  • Fun rewards-based motivation system
  • Flexible 24/7 online scheduling
  • Specialized standardized test support

Cons

  • Lacks undivided one-on-one attention
  • Requires long-term financial commitment
  • Cannot assist with non-math subjects

They are friendly and encouraging
Our daughter went into Mathnasium with anxiety relating to math, and a deficiency compared to her grade-level peers. The staff at Mathnasium has been amazing for her to not only regain confidence, but to also get her back on her grade-level. They are friendly and encouraging, and simplify things problems/equations so kids are empowered.

My son loves going and just passed his 100th session

I recommend this place to everyone whether you go for enrichment or extra help. It’s a clubhouse for little geniuses. Thanks Evan and all the teachers.

Highly recommend Ava!
Highly recommend Ava! Ava worked with my incoming freshmen much of the summer to prep him for a placement test into an advanced math class. His goal was to enter high school a grade above. His first attempt prior to working with Ava or having any tutoring, he did not pass. After six weeks of tutoring with Ava, he passed his placement test and will now be entering in the grade above!

Matthew Fay is a professional educator who stands out by offering direct instruction from a master level specialist with more than fifteen years of experience.

Unlike large tutoring franchises, his approach focuses on personalized learning and deeper understanding. Before my college calculus final, he helped strengthen the underlying mathematical logic instead of relying on shortcuts.

What makes his tutoring especially valuable is the range of topics he teaches.

For instance, he works with students on middle school math foundations while also guiding others through advanced university subjects like linear algebra and differential equations.

The overall experience with him feels consistent and highly personalized.

His schedule tends to fill up quickly during finals season, which says a lot about the demand for his approach. Students who need serious, logic-focused math support often seek out his specialized instruction.

5. Kumon Math and Reading Center of Denver – University Hills

Website: https://www.kumon.com/denver-university-hills/
Address: 1685 S Colorado Blvd R
Contacts: +1 303-390-1818 / [email protected]
Hours:

  • Monday & Thursday: 10 AM–7 PM
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM–6 PM

Building strong academic habits early can make a big difference in a child’s long-term success. Kumon focuses on developing those habits through a structured self learning approach.

Rather than relying on traditional lectures, Kumon uses a worksheet-based system that encourages students to work independently. Children must achieve timed fluency in core skills before progressing to more advanced material.

Because of this mastery-based structure, students move forward according to their ability instead of their grade level.

The program also emphasizes daily study routines that reinforce discipline and consistency. Although some students find the repetitive practice challenging at first, many parents say it greatly improves focus and problem-solving skills.

Over time, this consistent approach helps students strengthen their foundations, fill learning gaps, and often progress well beyond their grade level.

Pros

  • Individualized self-paced curriculum
  • Builds long-term academic discipline
  • Dual-subject math and reading enrichment
  • Fills existing learning gaps safely

Cons

  • Repetitive drills can feel tedious
  • Lacks traditional one-on-one tutoring
  • Requires high parental time commitment

My girls scored better than their peers in class!
My girls have been going to Kumon since they were in Kindergarten and now they’re in 3rd grade. Ms. Preethy has been crucial in boosting their math and English skills, and thanks to her they have scored better than their peers in class!

Our child has been working on his mathematics with this Kumon
Our child has been working on his mathematics with this Kumon branch for the last 8 years, he is now 13. In Math he is far ahead of his contemporaries at the local school he attends. When his classmates get a new math assignment they all go to him for help. He was just accepted to a prestigious boarding school based largely on his math scores, especially at mental arithmetic.
