We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Technical Capabilities: We evaluated the machinery and technologies each shop uses for daily operations. Companies equipped with modern computer numerical control (CNC) tools scored higher for precision.

Material Versatility: Our assessment looked closely at the types of alloys and metals each team can comfortably process. Shops capable of handling difficult materials like titanium and bronze were prioritized.

Project Scalability: We analyzed whether the facility could handle both massive industrial manufacturing runs and smaller residential requests. Flexibility in accepting jobs without strict minimum fee requirements was a major factor.

Turnaround and Logistics: A shop's ability to handle design, processing, and final finishing in-house directly impacts project deadlines. We focused on businesses that reduce logistical delays by offering comprehensive services under one roof.

If you manage a large-scale construction firm or an industrial manufacturing business, precise metal fabrication is absolutely critical for safety and success. Architects and designers also need reliable metal parts or structures to bring their intricate visions to life.

If you fit any of those descriptions, this guide is for you. I’ve explored the local industrial scene to find the best metal fabrication companies in Denver, highlighting shops with quality materials and advanced machinery.

How much does metal fabrication cost in Denver?

Pricing for metal fabrication in Denver varies heavily on labor hours, material selection, and project complexity.

1. Roadrunner Fabrication

Website: http://www.roadrunnerfabrication.com/

Address: 280 East 64th Avenue Denver, CO 80221

Contact: 303.657.1233 / 877.860.8208 / [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8 AM–4:30 PM

Keeping a project running smoothly usually means avoiding the hassle of juggling multiple vendors. Roadrunner Fabrication solves this headache by offering a turnkey service that manages everything from initial computer-aided design to final powder coating under one roof.

As a Colorado-owned operation since 1985, they understand regional building codes better than most competitors.

Another major benefit is their refusal to enforce a minimum charge policy, ensuring that simple residential bracket repairs receive the same attention as massive national franchise contracts. They even provide highly specialized two-directional polishing for complex pipe shapes, a service that’s remarkably difficult to find locally.

That said, their heavy reliance on local supply chains makes them less practical if your job site is located far outside the Western United States. Their equipment lineup also notably lacks waterjet cutting technology, which might restrict options if you need intricate cold-cut designs.

Pros

  • Single-source project management
  • No minimum charge policy
  • Specialized two-directional polishing
  • Deep regional building code expertise

Cons

  • Geographic service limitations
  • Lacks waterjet cutting technology

Great business! This is how a business is supposed to run.

The works is high quality. It’s done when they say it’s going to be done.

In the service world of businesses, most of the time people are not organized and don’t care about the outcome, not here.

If you want things to get done right the first time go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil and his team made a beautiful stainless steel table top for my bakery. It needed to be precise in size and shape, and arrived not only in perfect condition but fit to the T over the structure I needed it to. I would highly recommend for custom metal work with quality. Oh and, to top it off, they were very responsive, timely turnaround and friendly.

2. Altitude Steel

Website: https://altitudesteel.com/

Address: 1401 Umatilla St Denver CO 80204

Contact: (303) 534-7075

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8 AM–4 PM | 1st & 3rd Saturday: 8 AM–11 AM

Altitude Steel is one of those rare industrial suppliers willing to accommodate weekend do-it-yourself enthusiasts alongside massive commercial contractors. They cater to diverse project scales with high-precision computer numerical control plasma cutting.

When I dropped by their facility to pick up some custom brackets, the crew had my order ready within minutes. This rapid turnaround is supported by a massive local inventory of carbon, stainless, and aluminum materials tailored for various structural needs.

Operating as a family-owned business for over twenty years, they have built a strong legacy of trust that large corporate distributors often struggle to match.

Unfortunately, their weekend accessibility is limited, opening only on the first and third Saturdays of each month for a brief three-hour window. Additionally, because they heavily prioritize rapid, in-and-out service for walk-in buyers, the fast-paced shop environment lacks the capacity for lengthy, sit-down design consultations on highly complex architectural builds.

Pros

  • Rapid service turnaround times
  • Diverse in-house technical services
  • Comprehensive carbon and stainless inventory
  • Accessible to DIY enthusiasts

Cons

  • Limited Saturday hours
  • Fast-paced environment limits in-depth design consultations

Best place to get metal in Colorado! Super nice family owned and operated and extremely professional! They have a drop area that is awesome! Best prices, and honestly I would pay more just because of the service you get here, extremely nice staff who are more then helpful. I can’t stand going to another metal shop and made to feel like your not worth their time because you only need 1 stick, this place treats you like your your there best customer on the first day.

I’m an experienced woodworker with over 15 years experience and recently dipped my toes into metalworking. I spent a day traveling across Denver to several metal suppliers and had experiences all across the board. This place is AWESOME. Family-owned (and it feels like it), unbeatable prices, and I immediately felt comfortable with the staff here. They didn’t make me feel like a noob, but rather we’re excited to help me get into this work. I’ve found my go-to shop.

Website: http://oldsolefab.com/

Address: 5371 Tennyson St Unit 8, Denver, CO 80212

Contact: (720) 490-3652 / [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Thursday: 8 AM–4 PM | Friday: 8 AM–2 PM

Prototyping complex components requires a manufacturing partner with serious technical credentials and an obsession with accuracy. Old Sole Fabrication delivers exactly that. In fact, one of their clients is NASA!

Co-owner Max brings over twenty years of experience and holds more than forty welding certifications, ensuring structural integrity that far exceeds basic local standards.

They seamlessly integrate digital computer-aided design drawings and 3D printing with traditional machining to speed up proof-of-concept development. Their extreme versatility allows them to handle massive hydroelectric components just as comfortably as local off-road vehicle kits.

On the downside, the shop operates with a very small team, limiting their capacity for continuous high-volume manufacturing runs. Their operating schedule also presents logistical challenges, as the facility closes on weekends and shuts down early at two in the afternoon on Fridays.

Pros

  • Clients like NASA and Hydro Rocky Mountain
  • Can work with exotic metals
  • Integrated 3D printing and CAD
  • Over 40 welding certifications

Cons

  • Limited high-volume production capacity
  • Closed on weekends

Located an old 35lb anvil which was salvaged from a barn in northern CO. Was referred to Old Sole Fabrication to mill and sand down the surface. Their knowledge and customer service was absolutely top notch! They knocked out my project super fast and did an incredible job restoring this anvil. Highly recommend this shop for your metal and fabrication needs! Support Local Businesses!! Thank you OSF!!

(Before & after shots attached)

Stan is the man!! His communication is top-notch – clear, timely, and extremely professional throughout the entire process. What really stood out was his willingness to take on a challenging project that was completely new to him. Not only did he tackle it head-on, but he also completed it within just a few hours. That kind of dedication and skill is rare. Highly recommend going to this shop, they are all awesome people!!

4. Merritt Welding & Fabrication

Website: http://merrittwelding.com/

Address: 5340 Tennyson Street, Denver, Colorado 80212, United States

Contact: 720-934-9943 / [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 07 AM–4 PM

Merritt Welding & Fabrication uses advanced equipment like the Dragon A400 computer numerical control plasma cutter to manage heavy structural support and fine aesthetic details.

When I consulted with them about a tricky residential enhancement, their ability to provide clear SolidWorks renderings before fabrication gave me immediate peace of mind.

They operate a full-scale physical shop while simultaneously dispatching mobile crews, making them highly flexible for complicated on-site architectural installations. The team actively collaborates with designers to transform complex visions into functional structures while keeping pricing highly predictable.

However, a notable drawback is their strict weekday-only operating schedule, which isn’t ideal for busy professionals. You cannot simply drop by their physical location for a spontaneous consultation since the crew is frequently out at active worksites.

Pros

  • Advanced CNC plasma cutting
  • Mobile onsite welding services
  • Hybrid architectural and structural expertise
  • Provides detailed SolidWorks renderings

Cons

  • Strict weekday-only schedule
  • No walk-in retail accessibility

Jacob and the team at Merritt were amazing. They quoted me a fair price for a great product. They were able to make a custom gate for my house just how I wanted and the workmanship on the stair rails is amazing. If I had more places in my house that needed railing, I wouldn’t think twice about calling. I have told many friends and family and all who have seen it have been really impressed. Merritt will not be the cheapest, but I didnt want cheap. I wanted quality and their workmanship and pride in their work shows through.

We are so glad we found Merritt Welding & Fabrication! Jacob was fantastic to work with and his team did a great job installing our metal stair railing! Jacob was able to fit our smaller job into their busy schedule and he was always quick to respond to emails and phone calls. They gave us a really great price and the stair rails turned out beautiful! I highly recommend them!

5. Heabler Metal Products

Website: http://heablermetal.com/

Address: 148 Vallejo St, Denver, CO 80223

Contact: 3037786517

Schedule: Monday to Thursday: 6 AM–3 PM | Friday: 6–11:30 AM

Heabler Metal Products stands out by focusing heavily on the food service sector. They use modern 3D modeling and traditional Metal Inert Gas welding to build durable commercial kitchen equipment.

Established in 1931, their impressive local longevity provides a level of stability and proven excellence that’s incredibly rare to find in the modern regional market.

They serve as a highly versatile single-source partner, comfortably managing small individual custom prototypes alongside complex architectural steel framing assemblies for general contractors. This extensive in-house capability allows them to guide intricate projects seamlessly from the initial estimation phase through to final fabrication.

That said, their physical equipment has clear material capacity constraints, including a shearing limit of only up to three-sixteenths of an inch. Their daily operational hours are also notably short, closing early every afternoon and before noon on Fridays.

Pros

  • Nearly a century of local operation
  • Deep expertise in food service equipment
  • In-house 3D modeling integration
  • Versatile across small and large projects

Cons

  • Strict material shearing capacity limits
  • Very restricted afternoon operating hours

My company has been working the Heabler for four years now. They’ve built everything from a 20′ steel boardroom table to a sculpted bronze base for us. The crew is great and they do phenomenal work.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Heabler Metal for several years. To say they are a dependable supplier would be an understatement. We trust their expertise, experience, and truly look at them as a partner as we work to serve our customers. From the top down, Heabler is a team I highly recommend and I look forward to years of continued success together.
