The 5 Best Personal Trainers in Denver for Expert Fitness Coaching

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Coaching Credentials: I checked for trainers who hold nationally recognized certifications and degrees in exercise science to ensure your workouts are safe. This means you are getting advice based on human physiology rather than just the latest social media trends.

Atmosphere and Privacy: I looked at whether the facility offers a private space or a high-energy group environment to match different comfort levels. A good training environment should make you feel focused and supported rather than intimidated by crowds.

Customization Levels: I prioritized services that offer tailored nutritional support and biometric tracking alongside their physical training programs. Effective training should adapt to your specific body type and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all template.

Scheduling Flexibility: I evaluated how easily these studios accommodate the hectic schedules of Denver’s working professionals. Having options for early morning slots or 24-hour access is a huge factor in staying consistent long-term.

Starting a fitness journey in Denver can feel overwhelming, especially when you are juggling work, family, and the challenge of building new habits.

The Mile High City offers plenty of upscale gyms and even Pilates studios, but finding a trainer who truly understands your pace is not always easy. That’s why we explored the local fitness scene and spoke with clients who train regularly around the city

Our goal was simple: to identify the best personal trainers in Denver. Here are the ones helping Denver locals stay consistent, motivated, and see real results!

Hours:

  • Friday: 5:30 AM–6:30 PM

  • Sunday: 9 AM–12 PM

Colfax Strong Strength & Conditioning has built a reputation as a community-focused performance lab in Denver. The atmosphere feels welcoming, with beginners and experienced athletes training together.

The gym combines high-intensity CrossFit training, Olympic weightlifting, and functional bodybuilding for a balanced strength program.

I joined a Colfax Pump session and quickly noticed how attentive the coaches were during the workout. Even in a group setting, they made time to give individual form corrections and helpful cues.

The facility itself is also spacious. There is plenty of room to move comfortably while working with barbells or other equipment.

The monthly membership costs more than a typical big-box gym. The workouts can feel intense if you push too hard, too quickly.

Still, for people who value strong coaching and a supportive community, Colfax Strong is a standout option.

Pros

  • Diverse schedule including Olympic lifting and CrossFit
  • Coaches hold specialized USAW and CrossFit certifications
  • Welcoming atmosphere explicitly caters to all levels
  • Spacious facility avoids the overcrowding of big gyms

Cons

  • Higher monthly cost
  • Risk of injury if coaching cues are ignored
  • Popular peak-hour classes fill up very quickly

A super nice, clean, spacious and very well-equipped gym!
We did a drop in class at Colfax and it was amazing! A super nice, clean, spacious and very well equipped gym! Our coach was extremely friendly and knowledgeable – the workout was challenging! The atmosphere is very positive and the members welcomed us with open arms. And your furry friend can wait in the lobby while you workout!

The workouts are top-tier
Colfax Strong is hands down the best CrossFit gym I’ve been to! The workouts are top-tier. The community is so welcoming and supportive, and the coaches will take the time to get to know every member to make sure that you have everything you need to meet your fitness goals. I’d recommend this gym to anyone.

Address: 3330 Larimer St #1a

Hours: Available 24 hours

Finding a gym that focuses on measurable progress can make all the difference when starting a serious fitness routine.

Core Progression Elite Personal Training stands out in Denver for its science-based approach and private training environment that removes much of the typical gym intimidation.

Their system combines structured strength programming with regular body-composition tracking, so clients can clearly see how their training is working.

When I visited the RiNo location, the educational approach was immediately noticeable. Many of the trainers have degrees in kinesiology, which means they take time to explain the purpose behind each movement and training phase.

The private and semi-private setup also keeps the space calm and efficient, so you never have to wait for equipment or work around crowded gym floors.

The tradeoff is that the cost is noticeably higher than a typical gym membership.

Still, for busy professionals who want a clear and data-driven path to results, this studio delivers.

Pros

  • Completely private or semi-private training atmosphere
  • Highly educated staff with Exercise Science degrees
  • Includes professional nutritional counseling and testing
  • State-of-the-art facility in the heart of RiNo

Cons

  • Significantly higher financial commitment than classes
  • Strictly appointment-based with limited drop-in flex
  • Lacks the social team dynamic of group bootcamps

Core Progression is a standout gym with knowledgeable trainers and a really welcoming atmosphere. The programming is thoughtful, personalized, and clearly focused on long-term progress, not quick fixes. It’s a great spot for anyone who wants high-quality training in a friendly and professional environment.

Core Progression is great if you have a goal to meet. Trainers will customize your workout routines (never gets boring) to reach those goals and make sure you stay focused and motivated. I worked with Jasper who is super knowledgeable. Meg and Anissia are also awesome.

3. Shape Plus

Website: https://www.shapeplus.com/denver-personal-trainers/
Address: 1140 Yuma Ct
Contact: +1 303-726-8279
Hours: Monday-Friday: 5 AM–8 PM

Achieving lasting fitness results often requires a clear system rather than random workouts. Shape Plus approaches training like a transformation clinic by combining private coaching with a structured four-phase nutrition program.

Their method focuses on removing guesswork through regular biometric testing that helps guide each stage of progress. The environment is designed for clients who prefer privacy and a quieter training space.

During my visit, a member told me the nutrition phases helped them finally break through a long weight loss plateau.

The program requires a strong commitment, though, as the diet plan is structured and closely monitored. People who travel frequently may find it challenging to stay on schedule too.

And to be honest, the atmosphere also feels more clinical than social.

Still, for individuals who want a science-based path to body recomposition, Shape Plus offers a focused and experienced approach.

Pros

  • Private suites perfect for those who dislike crowds
  • Customizable 4-phase nutrition plan to avoid plateaus
  • Regular body fat testing provides objective data
  • Results-guaranteed philosophy with decades of experience

Cons

  • Higher pricing
  • Requires very strict adherence to the diet program
  • No high-energy group social atmosphere

I’ve had an amazing experience at Shape Plus
I’ve had an amazing experience at Shape Plus, specifically with Greg! He’s an awesome trainer, makes me laugh, makes me feel comfortable, and pushes me to my potential. He’s super flexible and really prioritizes his clients. Since joining the gym I’ve lost weight, gained muscle, built confidence in the gym, and have learned super valuable things about my health and what it takes to stay in shape consistently. I’m stoked that I decided to invest this experience in myself, and proud of the discipline I’ve developed!!

Best investment I’ve made in myself

4. Fight Gravity Fitness – Personal Training Studio

Website: https://www.fightgravityfit.com/
Address: 3300 Walnut St suite 128
Contact: +1 303-351-2846 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Sunday: 6 AM–9 PM

Fight Gravity Fitness centers its programming entirely around the science of movement. They specialize in a boutique model that prioritizes biomechanical efficiency and corrective exercise.

This is the spot to go to build strength while simultaneously fixing the postural imbalances that cause chronic pain. The studio is tucked away in RiNo and feels very exclusive and low-traffic.

I really appreciated their focus on “habit coaching” because it addresses the 23 hours a day you aren’t in the gym. Plus, their trainers are experts at working around old injuries, which is a huge plus for anyone returning to fitness after a break.

A potential downside is the boutique pricing, which is higher than a standard big-box membership. Also, being an appointment-only studio means you can’t just wander in for a solo workout whenever you feel like it.

For targeted, injury-preventative training, their expertise is hard to beat.

Pros

  • Focuses on corrective exercise and functional movement
  • Private, low-traffic environment reduces gym anxiety
  • Integrates habit coaching and nutritional guidance
  • Modern facility with specialized functional tools

Cons

  • Higher price point per session than standard gyms
  • Limited flexibility for “walk-in” solo workouts
  • Lacks broad amenities like pools or saunas

It’s been a great experience!
My partner and I have been training with Nick Falkenstein for several months now and it’s been a great experience! Not only am I making progress on my fitness goals, it’s been a lot of fun. I appreciate how Nick tailors the workouts to our goals and always has some new exercise to keep things fresh. Could not recommend him more highly.

My trainer Nick is amazing
My trainer Nick is amazing he has really taken the time to get to know me . He has geared my work out to fit my lifestyle and the objectives I was looking to achieve. I would highly recommend Nick and the rest of the team at Fight Gravity Fitness. Nick has really elevated my fitness to a level I wasn’t really sure I could get back to.

5. Push Gym

push-gym

Website: https://pushgym.com/
Address: 38 E 5th Ave
Contact: +1 303-903-8174 | [email protected]
Hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 6 AM–8 PM
  • Saturday: 8 AM–12 PM

Walking into the right gym can make sticking to a fitness routine much easier. Push Gym focuses on creating a community-first environment where members feel comfortable and supported.

The studio keeps things small and welcoming, which helps remove the intimidation that some people feel in larger gyms. Their approach to personal training works well for people who want coaching without paying for full private sessions.

The small group format still allows trainers to give form corrections and personal guidance during workouts.

I also noticed how well the coaches connect with members. They greet people by name, which adds a level of accountability that helps keep you consistent.

The workouts combine functional strength exercises with metabolic conditioning, and movements are easy to scale for beginners.

The downside is that class spots can fill quickly, so booking ahead is important.

Still, for Denver locals who want a supportive home gym atmosphere with solid coaching, Push Gym is a great find.

Pros

  • Expert guidance at a more accessible price point
  • Scalable programs for both beginners and athletes
  • Strong emphasis on community and mental well-being
  • Modern equipment in a clean, organized boutique layout

Cons

  • Strictly capped class sizes can lead to waitlists
  • Lacks amenities like swimming pools or childcare
  • Less flexibility for “drop-in” workouts

I’m so happy I chose to work with him!
I started training with Christopher at the beginning of this year, and working out with him has put me in better shape than I’ve had in years. He pays attention to my previous injuries and works to strengthen the areas around them, and has an expert handle on how to gradually increase resistance and weight for me to get stronger without pushing myself too far. I’m so happy I chose to work with him!

Incredible gym!
