We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Value and Pricing: We analyzed the base ticket costs alongside hidden fees or mandatory purchases to determine overall affordability. Venues with transparent pricing models scored higher in our evaluation.
  •
  • Venue Atmosphere and Seating: The physical layout of the performance space directly impacts how you experience a live stand-up show. We favored locations that guarantee unobstructed sightlines and comfortable seating arrangements.
  •
  • Talent Caliber and Variety: A great entertainment space needs to provide a consistent rotation of high-quality performers to keep audiences returning. We looked at how well these spots balance national touring acts with rising local talent.
  •
  • Food and Beverage Offerings: Enjoying a great meal or a unique drink enhances the overall evening out. We evaluated the quality, variety, and accessibility of the menus provided during the performances.

Finding the perfect spot for a night out usually means choosing between standard bars or noisy music venues. If you want a genuinely memorable evening, tracking down the best comedy club in Denver offers an unbeatable alternative.

To make your search easier, I spent some time attending comedy shows all around the city. Here are the comedy clubs that gave me the biggest laughs!

Denver Comedy Underground is great! They have the best local comics (excited Uncalled Four has a home), their out-of-towners always end up being the next big thing and it’s given Denver another comedy club they can consistently count on. DCU’s staff is also a well trained crew, the brewery attached is top notch and the owner is a very funny comedian.

I had a great time at Denver Comedy Underground, the staff was fun to be around, the comedians were all entirely funny and I love that this comedy club is attached to one of the best breweries in Colorado, Woods Boss. Denver Comedy Underground is the perfect spot in Denver to have a good time, especially if you’re traveling. It’s easy to make the plans, has a place to pregame and free pizza. Book it!

A night out doesn’t have to mean crowded nightclubs and loud music. This intimate room at Colorado Sake Co. offers live entertainment paired with unique Japanese-inspired bites, making for a memorable evening.

I recently went with friends and couldn’t get enough of the crispy karaage. It’s a fantastic change from the usual fried bar food.

I also appreciated that there’s no mandatory drink minimum, so you can pace yourself and stick to your budget.

With only 65 seats, every spot feels close to the action, and there’s nothing blocking your view.

The only catch is that seating is unreserved. Arrive early, because getting there even 15 minutes late risks losing your spot. Latecomers may also have their tickets resold.

Pros

  • Flexible cancellation policy
  • Fully wheelchair accessible
  • Free nearby street parking
  • Close to public transit

Cons

  • Severe late arrival penalties
  • Unreserved general admission

2nd time here.  Took family here for a late gift and was just as excellent as the first time. Awesome atmosphere, layout and space way more inviting than Comedy Works. Great drinks an food, we tried a variety of everything and shared. The host for the show did an excellent job and we all had a great time.

We had a great time at the Denver Comedy Lounge! The host kindly helped get us a seat after we failed to plan ahead and we enjoyed the evening. Comedy was fun and the drinks were tasty. Highly recommend for a different night out!

Trying something new on stage can feel intimidating, especially if you’re just starting out. This venue makes that leap feel more welcoming by offering classes in sketch writing and improv alongside their regular comedy shows.

During comedy shows, the relaxed vibe stands out. There’s no dress code, so you can just show up as you are.

I also like that you can grab hot pizza delivered right to your seat during a performance, which makes the whole night feel casual and fun instead of overly formal.

They do a great job supporting new talent too, with an open mic night every Wednesday that gives beginners a chance to test their material.

One thing to keep in mind is their strict ticket policy. All sales are final unless the theater cancels the show. Students who drop out of multi-week classes won’t receive tuition credit too.

Pros

  • Low-stakes drop-in classes
  • Strict anti-harassment enforcement
  • All-ages friendly early shows
  • Flexible class payment plans

Cons

  • Final sale no-refund policy
  • Strict class drop-out penalties

RISE is great for enjoying several different types of improv shows and entertainment. The crowd was great, staff extremely friendly, located in the heart of the historical district in Denver. Good vibes and environment. Really good food in the area in walking distance. Great for a date, or a solo quest if you’re in the area. I felt like I was right at home as a guest. Show up and live, laugh, and love the memories you can create here!

In town for a short visit, decided to do something different and fun. Found RISE, it was we decided on the Improv Musical beyond hilarious! The whole group of Hit and Run are amazing to watch! The chemistry among the group is hilarious. Definitely a must see.

If your corporate group is tired of booking escape rooms, this massive venue offers full buyouts for up to 350 people and even matches a comedian to your event theme.

I recently attended a coworker’s daytime gathering here, and the custom audiovisual setup made the whole presentation feel polished and professional.

Being part of a nationally recognized network, they also bring in top-tier celebrity talent. This adds a fun, memorable touch to any event.

The food and drinks deserve a shout-out too. Their menu goes beyond basic snacks, with craft burgers and specialty cocktails that pair perfectly with the show.

One thing to keep in mind is the cost: there’s a mandatory two-item minimum per person in the showroom. There’s also an automatic 18% gratuity on all checks, regardless of your party size.

Pros

  • Dedicated group event discounts
  • Plant-based menu options
  • Stand-up comedy classes

Cons

  • Mandatory two-item minimum

Customer Reviews

10/10 highly recommended, staff very friendly, food was great, drinks made perfectly as well as priced well. The comedians were beyond hilarious and the host is just as funny as the acts. Thank you for the great experience will recommend and come back!

Went to watch king Bach and loved loved loved the place. It’s quite small so that made it even better. Small crowd. The drinks were good. The service was good, except for the staff serving drinks at the entry… maybe he had a bad day.

5. Comedy Works

Schedule: Showtimes vary daily per event calendar

If you love classic, no-frills stand-up, this legendary downtown basement has been delivering that vibe since 1981.

I recently caught a show here, and the energy felt electric. The weekly events are designed to spotlight rising local talent through a structured, tiered system that keeps the performances sharp and entertaining.

One unique touch I appreciated is how the staff ask everyone to lock their phones and smartwatches so nothing distracts from the comedy. You can also grab premium upgrade tickets for guaranteed front-row seating and a closer view of the action.

While the upstairs lobby bar provides a great place to relax before the doors open, any drinks bought there will not count toward the showroom requirements. Every guest must purchase a minimum of two items once seated in the main theater.

Late arrivals are taken seriously here. Arriving more than thirty minutes after the start can mean your tickets are canceled without a refund.

Pros

  • Relaxing pre-show lobby bar
  • Discounted garage parking validation
  • Nightly stand-by performer spots
  • Accommodating military ID acceptance

Cons

  • Strict two-item showroom minimum
  • Harsh late-arrival cancellations

Customer Reviews

There was already a long line to get in once we arrived, but there was a gentleman checking names outside and we got our VIP wristbands then and there. This allowed us, once inside, to go to the bottom of the stairs past everybody and get seated stat. The venue itself was very packed, but once the show got started, I wasn’t thinking about sardines. Josh Johnson and guests had me in stitches, and the meet and greet after was such an unexpected and delightful bonus!

Fantastic place and always a great time with fantastic comedians. 2 ladies from the Love is Blind show showed up a few minutes before the set ended and were extremely loud, and we all (the crowd and our group) really appreciated the staff silencing them.
