  • Professional Background: Our review considered the educational and practical history of the company founders. Having deep industry experience often translates directly to a smoother project workflow and better results.
  •
  • Project Management: We looked at how these businesses handle the administrative side of home renovations. Clear communication and structured planning are essential for keeping custom builds on budget.
  •
  • Service Flexibility: Assessing the range of offerings allowed us to see which teams handle both interior and exterior needs.

Homeowners benefit from knowing if a contractor can also tackle additional tasks alongside custom woodworking.

David Lenches founded this company to bring nearly a decade of trade experience directly to his clients, offering quality service in all phases of home remodeling.

Beyond standard woodwork, their team handles exterior projects like deck planning and roofing, making them a highly versatile choice.

Not many independent professionals maintain an emergency calling line, but this one prioritizes availability for urgent residential issues. They also maintain a specific mission to use business growth to fund local community volunteering.

However, because this operates on a single lead model, its capacity to manage multiple large-scale renovations simultaneously is restricted.

You’ll also need a separate crew for extensive office cleaning after a messy build, since they don’t provide cleanup services.

Pros

  • In-house financing options
  • Transparent budget management
  • Wide-ranging exterior services
  • Detailed finish work specialization

Cons

  • Limited large-scale capacity
  • No cleanup services

Customer Reviews:

Excellent Customer Service

David is an excellent carpenter. What distinguishes him from so many other skilled carpenters is his commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction. He was extremely responsive when I first contacted him for a bid, was prompt and communicated status updates well, completed the project on time and on budget with the highest level of quality and then followed up with me several weeks later to make sure I continued to be satisfied with his work. I would recommend him unreservedly and with high praise.

Incredible Patience And Results

The job of gutting and re-doing our tub/shower area seemed overwhelming to me. I only had a certain limited budget to work with and Dave had incredible patience. He was able to keep costs down, include handicap bars, and all that was needed. I couldn’t be happier with the results. I would not hesitate to recommend cut in two carpentry to my friends and acquaintances.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, Closed

Applying a highly technical methodology to custom woodworking, Forrest Cade Coleman operates this business with an engineering background.

Their service footprint is quite broad, covering several surrounding neighborhoods alongside their primary local focus.

They strictly focus on interior renovations, which allows them to master fine finishes and intricate millwork. Property managers and interior designers frequently rely on their structured process for complex accent walls and built-in pantries.

Because they only handle non-structural tasks, however, they can’t assist if your project requires removing load-bearing walls or altering a building framework.

I found this incredibly inconvenient because it means you have to hire an entirely different contractor just to make massive structural changes before they can start their finish work.

Pros

  • Versatile specialty carpentry
  • Expertise in historic properties
  • Comprehensive project proposals
  • Reliable for property managers

Cons

  • No major structural modifications

Dedicated Professional Carpenter

Forrest did an outstanding job replacing my old front door and frame. He was punctual, professional, and the finished result exceeded my expectations. In a time when reliable contractors can be hard to find, Forrest truly stands out as a dedicated professional.

Custom Basement Cabinets

Forrest did an amazing job helping us build custom cabinets for a walk-in closet in our basement! Our house is older and the room has an unusual shape, so it was no simple task—but he put in so much time, care, and craftsmanship into making everything fit perfectly.

3. Oakwood Falls Contracting

Focusing on both premium exterior builds and high-end interior finishes, Oakwood Falls Contracting provides a cohesive approach to property upgrades.

It’s led by owner and project manager Carlos Trujillo, who ensures a direct line of communication and strict accountability on every job site.

One of their standout offerings is specialized closet packages, giving clients durable solutions for interior storage. They also cater to a massive regional footprint, taking on both residential and commercial projects.

A distinct downside is that their service descriptions are quite broad, lacking specific details on smaller repair tasks. Their focus on large custom finishes overshadows most needs, making it difficult to book them for a simple, minor fix.

Pros

  • Licensed and insured coverage
  • Complimentary project estimating
  • Dual interior and exterior capability
  • Focus on custom finishes

Cons

  • Less focus on minor repairs

4. TG Woodworking

Website: https://www.tgwoodworking.com/

Address: 2187 S Sheridan Blvd

Contact: (303) 520-7559; [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, Closed

Operating in the southwest area since 1999, TG Woodworking is a family-run shop that brings decades of local experience to every custom build. They excel at delivering intricate custom pieces.

I personally hired them a few years ago for a complex window replacement project involving custom wood framing, and their precision was exceptional.

They specialize in highly specific items like custom doorbell covers and wood vent registers while offering full on-site millwork installation.

Because they focus heavily on bespoke creations, their online inventory of ready-to-ship furniture is extremely limited, frequently leaving popular items completely sold out.

This can be frustrating because you would have to wait months for a commissioned build rather than buying something immediately off the floor.

Pros

  • Broad service capability
  • Licensed and insured contractors
  • Advanced custom CNC work
  • Specialized architectural details

Cons

  • Extremely limited online inventory

Customer Reviews:

Close Attention To Detail

Cannot say enough good things about Tyler! He did the installation of our kitchen cabinets. Tyler did a great job… such a close attention to detail, efficient and clean, and completed the job a week early. He was a great communicator. We are so happy with the outcome. We will definitely use him again in the future!

Wonderful Custom Mantle

Working with Tyler was great. We love our new mantle and cabinet. We gave him a not so easy task to add a waterfall style mantle and cabinet to fill the deep and odd-shaped wood box. It turned out beautifully and we are really pleased. He had to fit these into the weird nuances of our fireplace area (installing on cynderblocks & the old stone face of the fireplace + the uneven aspects of the room we were trying to cover up). Well done and wouldn’t hesitate to use him again! (Already have ideas for down the road)

5. The Ernest Carpenter

the-ernest-carpenter

Website: https://www.theernestcarpenter.com/

Address: 7446 E Princeton Ave

Contact: (720) 322-4449

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM; Sunday, Closed

The Ernest Carpenter tackles the exact household tasks that large agencies often ignore. They’re a husband-and-wife team that pairs hands-on technical skill with two decades of project management experience.

They actively market themselves as specialists for smaller home improvement tasks, bringing hospitality-grade furniture-building skills directly into residential spaces.

The owner leverages his background as a senior installer to design high-end custom closets and storage units.

With seamless project flow management, their ability to execute multi-phase renovations keeps disruptions to a strict minimum.

A notable drawback, however, is their policy requiring clients to handle the obtainment and pickup of construction materials themselves.

I found this expectation incredibly annoying and frustrating when I just wanted a completely hands-off service experience without hauling lumber in my own car.

Pros

  • Specialized climate solutions
  • Streamlined multi-phase remodeling
  • Versatile hybrid trades capability
  • Professional flat-pack assembly

Cons

  • Client material pickup required

Customer Reviews

We’ve worked with Ernest twice now, once for a small project and once for a large project. Both times he’s been exceptional. Our large project was fixing our worn-out deck, he created a plan to address all the issues and executed it with an attention to detail and craftsmanship, all while keeping our budget in mind. Our deck has been given new life thanks to him, highly recommend for any project.

I recently moved and needed my TV taken down and mounted at my new place. Ernest did both very efficiently and professionally. He was very careful with the TV so I definitely didn’t need to worry about damage. Both Ernest and Mandi were friendly and helpful which was much needed on moving day. I highly recommend The Ernest Carpenter. Great work ethic, highly skilled, professional, and efficient!
