Hours: Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, Closed
Stepping into the historic Baker neighborhood sets the tone for an immersive journey.
The moment you walk through the doors of Denver Distillery, you’re met with their craftsmanship, as they handle the entire process from raw ingredients to the final pour right on-site.
I love how they step outside the usual boundaries with unique offerings like sweet potato liqueur and coffee liqueur. Beyond their varied lineup of gin and bourbon, you can also grab a solid meal with fantastic charcuterie boards and paninis.
Getting one of their craft cocktails is an absolute must during your visit.
However, I found it frustrating that their guided behind-the-scenes access is restricted to specific scheduled times, requiring advanced booking rather than casual walk-ins.
Informative Tour And Tasting
We were able to take the tour they offer at 2pm and it was very informative and showcased a lot of how they do their work there. They offer a bunch of different styles of booze from whiskey to gin to vodka. The place is small and intimate.

Fun Distiller Experience
We had a reeeeaaally good time here! Joined the free tour with the head destiller, which was really interesting and dude was a very funny guy we had a lot of laughters with! We also bought two bottles of their Gin, got a sample of their new bourbon and went for a really tasty Gin Tonic! Thanks to the guys in the destillery!

2. Mile High Spirits

Address: 2201 Lawrence St Unit A
Contact: (303) 296-2226; [email protected]
Hours: Sunday – Friday, Closed; Saturday, 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM
If you’ve ever wanted to taste a drink that has quite literally been to the stratosphere, this local pioneer is calling your name.
As the original craft pioneer in the city, Mile High Spirits brings a rich history alongside their famous space-aged whiskey. You can also explore a diverse spirit selection that includes everything from bourbon to specialty almond infusions.
Those looking for an exclusive vibe will appreciate their intimate event space, where you can party surrounded by aging whiskey barrels.
When I dropped by last month to try their canned cocktails, the bartender happily gave me a quick rundown of their interactive mixology classes, too.
The major downside is their highly limited weekly service window. I was extremely disappointed that they’re only open for a specific window on Saturdays, making weekday visits completely impossible.
Awesome Tasting Experience
Just had a tour/tasting at Mile High and had an awesome time! Our tour guide, Kai, was super cool and very knowledgeable about the process. We all had an awesome time tasting the delicious whiskeys and had an opportunity to learn about an awesome local business. Keep up the awesome work!

Address: 200 S Kalamath St
Contact: [email protected]
Hours: Monday, Thursday, Sunday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Tuesday – Wednesday, 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Friday – Saturday, 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Whiskey purists seeking a taste of regional history will find themselves right at home in this urban hotspot.
Proudly holding the title of the first legal establishment since Prohibition, Stranahan’s Whiskey Distillery & Cocktail Bar distills and bottles every single drop right at their facility.
They separate themselves from the pack by using entirely malted barley and real Rocky Mountain water.
They also have a cocktail lounge that serves expertly crafted, seasonal drinks that perfectly highlight the nuances of their diverse single malt lineup.
Fans absolutely rave about the volunteer program, where you can sign up to help bottle the whiskey by hand. There are also deep educational tours and VIP cask tastings that are absolutely phenomenal.
However, I was bummed because they’re focused purely on whiskey, meaning their menu lacks options like house-made gin for friends who prefer clear spirits.
Amazing Tour Experience!
The distillery itself is impressive, but what truly made the experience special was our guide, Liz. She was funny, engaging, and answered all our questions with patience and deep knowledge. The tour was both informative and entertaining, and at the end, we even got a glass as a souvenir! Highly recommended for whiskey lovers—and anyone who enjoys unique experiences.

Great Bar Staff
Take a tour and sample several whiskey varieties or check out the whiskey lounge and their cocktails 🍸 I’ve enjoyed both and will be back again soon! Really appreciated the bar staff and the tour guide – all great folks. The whiskey speaks for itself but I love that single-malt!

4. The Block Distilling Co.

Website: https://theblockdistillingco.com/
Address: 2990 Larimer St
Contact: (303) 484-9033; [email protected]
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Friday – Saturday, 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM; Sunday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Late-night adventurers looking for a truly inclusive community atmosphere will immediately resonate with this vibrant space.
The Block Distilling Co. prioritizes total production control, applying culinary and chemistry methods to make every single drop in-house.
They constantly push boundaries, exploring unique flavor profiles rather than copying industry standards. This dedication is clearly evident in their impressive straight rye whiskey.
While they do offer extended midnight hours on Fridays and Saturdays, their limited Sunday availability can be frustrating. It completely cuts your weekend session short since they close early at 8 PM.
Creative Delicious Cocktails
Love this place! It has creative and delicious cocktails, and a fun vibe including a little old TV playing retro movies on VHS. All of the spirits are house made and we had a lot of fun trying a flight of some gins and whiskeys. Our bartender, Danny was super knowledgeable and helpful in helping us pick or drinks. Will definitely be back!

Friendly Helpful Bartenders
Wow if you want amazing and unique drinks this is the places. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful when deciding what to choose from the creative and delicious cocktails. They make all their own ingredients from scratch. If I was able to handle more drinks I would have wanted to try them all. They now have their own whiskey along with gin and vodka. Can’t wait to come back and bring friends.

5. Bear Creek Distillery

Website: https://bearcreekdistillery.com/
Address: 1879 S Acoma St
Contact: (303) 955-4638
Hours: Monday – Tuesday, Closed; Wednesday – Thursday, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Friday – Saturday, 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM; Sunday, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Finding a spot that genuinely captures the essence of the Rocky Mountains in a glass is a rare treat.
Bear Creek Distillery shines by using local ingredients, sourcing regional grain and water to ensure an authentic flavor profile. Everything is meticulously handcrafted in small batches.
Their straight bourbon is particularly noteworthy, spending at least two years aging in specific barrels to develop a bold character.
I also appreciate that they offer transparent interactive tour experiences, giving visitors a direct look at their production process. They also have a versatile private event space, making it a worthwhile trip.
Unfortunately, I felt very restricted by their weekly hours since the tasting room is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, killing my early-week visit plans.
Hip Pretension-Free Vibe
Bear Creek Distillery is officially one of our new favorite haunts! We’re thrilled to support a local distillery that’s producing amazing spirits and providing an incredible atmosphere to enjoy a drink. The staff are personable and friendly, the vibe is hip without being pretentious, and the drinks are top-notch. We’re so excited to go back and try the 10 other cocktails that were just as equally tempting as the delicious ones we ended up getting (the big blue bear and the “bold” fashioned). Their seasonal menu looks amazing, so don’t wait to give them a try!

Friendly Knowledgeable Staff
First whiskey west of Tennessee and Kentucky, that is great. The tasting room was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful. Next time in Denver, this will be my first stop. Big shout out to Alex and Ro for all of their help with their products and their suggestions with things to do in Denver.
