The 5 Best Costume Shops in Denver for Unique and Creative Looks

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Inventory Variety: We looked at the sheer volume and diversity of items available for purchase or rent. A massive selection ensures that shoppers can find everything from trendy pop culture outfits to niche historical garments.

Quality of Craftsmanship: Our review prioritized businesses that offer well-made, durable pieces rather than flimsy, single-use items. High-end materials and thoughtful construction are essential for comfortable, long-lasting theatrical wear.

Customer Service: We considered how helpful and knowledgeable the staff members are when assisting patrons. Expert guidance makes a significant difference for customers trying to assemble complex looks or source specific accessories.

Year-Round Availability: We favored retailers that remain open outside of the standard autumn holiday window. Reliable access to props and garments throughout the year is crucial for performers, schools, and dedicated convention attendees.

Finding the perfect outfit for your next big event does not have to feel like a stressful scavenger hunt. From Halloween parties to community theater productions, the right costume can completely transform the experience.

Denver has no shortage of places to shop, but knowing where to go can save you a lot of time and guesswork. The challenge is that not every store makes it easy to find what you actually need, whether that is a full outfit or specific accessories.

To save you from the endless scrolling and store-hopping, we explored the city’s theatrical and retail scene to find the shops that stand out for their selection, creativity, and full range of accessories.

Here are the best costume Shops in Denver where you might find everything you need for your next standout look.

Address: 1456 S Broadway, Denver, CO 80210

Contact: (303) 944-9800 | [email protected]

Hours: Wednesday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

For those who appreciate fine detail work, Crimson Rose Masquerade feels more like a craft atelier than a typical retail shop.

It specializes in handcrafted leather masks and cosplay accessories that lean heavily into steampunk, fantasy, and wearable art aesthetics.

We actually stopped by to browse their collection recently and were blown away by the intricate craftsmanship of their steampunk and fantasy pieces.

Finding durable goods designed for longevity and comfort during long conventions is a breeze here. Because everything is handmade, patrons can easily acquire pieces that provide a superior, custom fit compared to rigid, plastic alternatives.

However, you won’t find a wide selection of full-body fabric costumes or generic bagged outfits here. The studio is hyper-focused on masks and leather accessories.

Pros

  • High-quality, durable craftsmanship
  • Supports local Denver artisans
  • Niche steampunk and fantasy pieces
  • Custom sizing for superior fit

Cons

  • Limited full-body fabric outfits
  • Lacks generic bagged costumes

There were so many options, styles, masks and more.

I visited with a friend who was looking for some costume attire. There were so many options, styles, masks and more. I was completely enamored by the custom tailored pieces and crafted masks  I even went as far as to buy one without having a ball or masquerade to attend. But I’m certainly motivated now!

A treasure trove of unique, high quality costume pieces.

This place is a treasure trove of unique, high quality costume pieces. The staff is beyond helpful, with sewing services on site. Today the staff re-sewed a 1920s headband to better fit— wow! Love crimson rose <3 thanks for keeping south broadway special.

Contact: (303) 462-0401 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Friday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Saturday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Sunday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

If you’re working with an event planner for a large-scale performance, having access to a full wardrobe resource can make production much easier.

Disguises A Costume Superstore operates as a year-round costume superstore with a warehouse-style inventory designed for high-volume needs

We like how extensive the selection is. The store carries professional-grade costumes, theatrical rentals, and retail pieces that can outfit entire casts or group ensembles without needing multiple suppliers.

The makeup and effects section is also a standout. With SFX prosthetics, theatrical blood, and other specialty items, it supports more advanced character design.

Since they’re open all year, this location provides a crucial lifeline for off-season theme parties and conventions.

The only downside is the premium rental costs. The required deposits and fees for heavy-duty mascots and theatrical-grade pieces are significantly higher than buying standard disposable outfits.

Pros

  • Professional-grade theatrical rentals
  • Reliable year-round availability
  • Expansive SFX makeup selection
  • Accommodates large group ensembles

Cons

  • Premium rental costs and fees
  • Expensive deposits for heavy-duty pieces

I went earlier today to rent out a costume and the experience was incredible. They have practically any costume you could imagine, and this is by far the most affordable rental option for how high-quality the costumes are. I believe the person who helped me was named Amelia, and she was so helpful and kind throughout the whole process. I will definitely be returning for more costumes!

Grabbing a trendy outfit right before a major holiday is often a huge priority for busy shoppers. Spirit Halloween leads the seasonal market by offering a vast, officially licensed selection of the year’s most relevant pop culture and movie characters.

We visited one of their locations last October, and they truly had every current blockbuster movie trend and viral internet character available on the racks.

Beyond personal apparel, they provide a massive array of high-tech animatronics and fog machines to completely transform a residential home into a haunted house.

Their inclusive sizing also features a dedicated plus-size section, so a wider range of body types can find properly fitting outfits.

Unfortunately, their strict seasonal operations mean the store completely closes down after November, leaving you without support for springtime events.

Pros

  • Current pop culture and movie trends
  • High-tech animatronics and yard decor
  • Charitable integration with local hospitals
  • Inclusive plus-size costume section

Cons

  • Strict seasonal operations
  • Closes completely after November

We come here every year

We come every year to see what new toys they have. Most importantly we support and donate so the children have costumes. This time I was helped by a young lady who not only went to look for the costume but found it! Thx u I was hit at the party.

Committed to providing guests with excellent customer service

I love this store and not just because I love Halloween. The store manager Desiree is so friendly and truly committed to providing guests with excellent customer service and friendliness. Carla was our cashier and she was very kind and super efficient!

With more than 20,000 costumes available for purchase and rental, it covers everything from historical figures to pop culture characters and full-ensemble looks.

Operating as a permanent superstore, they provide reliable access to theatrical props well outside the traditional October window.

Address: 15167 E. Hampden Ave., Aurora, CO 80014

Contact: (720) 934-0102

Parents scrambling for last-minute school projects often need very specific historical or character costumes quickly, and Gott A Costume is set up to handle exactly that kind of demand.

As a year-round costume rental and retail store, it focuses on character outfits for school events, themed parties, and educational presentations.

The dedicated school section saves parents valuable time when hunting for school uniforms and educational activity wear.

Plus, their permanent retail stability ensures reliable inventory for springtime events, unlike temporary seasonal pop-ups.

If you’re looking for a unique birthday surprise to accompany a gift delivery, they even offer a fantastic “Rent A Party Character” service for private or corporate gatherings.

The main limitation is scheduling. The store is closed on Sundays, which can be inconvenient for families trying to prepare costumes right before the school week begins.

  • Live character entertainment service
  • Dedicated school project section
  • Permanent retail stability year-round

Cons

  • Completely closed on Sundays

I really like this costume shop, it’s cute, they have a lot of costume options, and the staff that works there is very friendly, and helpful, I got a good costume in no time, and the guy who was working, I think his name is tanner, was very sweet, went out of his way to help me quite a few times. Was grateful for it! So shout out to him! Good job!  All in all it was a great experience! Love my costume!
