1. Petco

Website: stores.petco.com
Address: 3705 E Colfax Ave Ste 102
Contact: (303) 377-3541
Hours: Monday to Saturday 10:00AM–7:00PM | Sunday 9:00AM–7:00PM
Petco serves as a centralized hub where you can tackle retail shopping and medical vaccinations under one roof. They even provide complimentary diagnostic testing for heartworms when you purchase qualifying preventative medications.
I recently booked a session with their on-site dog trainers to help my rescue pup learn basic commands, and having those classes right next to the food aisles was incredibly convenient.
You can also sign up for their auto-ship program to easily waive shipping fees on future digital orders.
Just keep in mind that standard delivery requires you to spend at least thirty-five dollars to avoid extra freight charges. Additionally, many of their advertised discounts have strict brand restrictions that might exclude your preferred labels.

The shop is always clean and the associates are super friendly. Abigail and another gentleman did an excellent job helping a steady stream of customers along with constantly cleaning out the do it yourself doggie wash.
I used the wash and it is so nice to have a neighborhood pet store to keep your dog clean.
Good variety of dog and cat food and treats along with other pet supplies and toys. This location also offers training.
Smaller selection than the big Petcos but it makes sense as they have a much smaller space to work with.

Sam and Brandon (I’m so sorry if I spelled that wrong especially after I asked 😭) are literally the best. Their customer service is wonderful. Even though this store is tiny, I enjoy coming here because of them. Also, it’s very clean and easy to find everything. My dog Winchester hopes to visit the store himself soon.

2. Simpawtico

Website: simpawtico.com
Address: 4500 W 38th Ave, Suite 110
Contact: (720) 381-6819 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday to Friday 10:00AM–7:00PM | Saturday 10:00AM–5:00PM | Sunday 11:00AM–4:00PM
Navigating the endless aisles of commercial chains is often overwhelming for a new pet parent. Simpawtico operates as a community-centric establishment focused on personalized attention and highly selective nutritional products.
The team heavily evaluates their inventory to accommodate various dietary preferences, offering both unprocessed meals and traditional dry kibbles.
They also carry specialized health supplements to actively address issues like chronic anxiety or limited mobility.
Every leash and collar on the shelf has been practically evaluated by the owners’ own pets to ensure durability.
However, early birds might struggle to shop here before work. The store remains closed until mid-morning during the standard Monday to Friday workweek.
They also only operate a single standalone location, so you’ll have to commute to this specific neighborhood if you ever move across the city.

Simpawtico rocks! The owners (?) and other staff are super friendly, eager and able to assist, and take the time to get you what’s best for your pet. The loyalty program really adds up fast and they carry a great selection of quality goods and pet foods. It is a great shop to do business with, and I always walk out with a smile.

3. Chuck & Don’s Pet Food & Supplies

Website: chuckanddons.com
Address: 201 University Blvd, Unit 113
Contact: (720) 496-2668
Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00AM–9:00PM | Saturday 9:00AM–7:00PM | Sunday 10:00AM–6:00PM
Keeping up with routine medical checkups is usually a frustrating scheduling headache. Chuck & Don’s Pet Food & Supplies tackles this by hosting pop-up clinics directly inside their Cherry Creek store for basic wellness needs.
Their retail team researches product labels to guide you toward the absolute healthiest feeding options. And if you run out of kibble unexpectedly, they connect their digital storefront to neighborhood inventories for local same-day delivery.
I actually used this exact feature last month when we were completely out of treats, and the order arrived on my porch in just a few hours. They also feature an auto-replenishment program that lets you easily modify shipment intervals.
On the downside, customers expecting a quick cash refund for large returns will be inconvenienced by a mailed check. The rapid same-day fulfillment is also heavily restricted by defined geographic boundaries.

Love this store! I drive 20 min for this store when I have a local pet shop 3 min away from my house. Every time Shallah is so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! She drops what she’s doing to be of service and help find what we need. My pup loves getting her treat at checkout too. Overall, highly recommend this location and Shallah!

I use the Chuck & Dons in Castle Rock. CO. When they first opened up shop, I thought there was no way they could compete with Pet Smart. Boy was I wrong. These people are great. They really know animals and their needs. The products they have are outstanding. I wanted quality foods and treats with no dangerous chemicals. They have exactly that. This is the only place I go now to get supplies for my pets.

4. Mouthfuls

Website: mouthfuls.net
Address: 4224 Tennyson Street
Contact: (720) 855-7505 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday to Friday 10:00AM–7:00PM | Saturday to Sunday 9:00AM–5:00PM
Supporting local businesses feels great when you know the money stays in your immediate community. Mouthfuls sources its inventory heavily from in-state manufacturers to bolster regional economics and support Colorado vendors.
They also actively partner with animal welfare organizations to redirect unused or returned dietary products to pets in need.
We love their custom mobile application, which rapidly broadcasts alerts to the community if a customer’s companion goes missing.
Plus, frequent shoppers can take advantage of a generous punch card program that rewards them with a complimentary item after a dozen transactions.
Just be aware that this business relies on an outdated physical paper tracker to log those loyalty purchases. Buyers are also strictly required to cover the government sales tax on the retail value of the promotional free item.

This became my favorite pet shop after learning they can special order and deliver the brands that aren’t usually available on Chewy. I still love going in to say hi to all the pups! Great selection of cat treats, as well.

The best pet shop in Denver by far with a wide variety of options for items you won’t find everywhere. My dog Pickles is a big fan of this pet store and so am I. The staff are amazing with dogs and give lots of attention to puppies while in the shop. They’re extremely knowledgeable and they helped me choose a cleaner diet for my little buddy. He loves the Green Juju rabbit trainers. Thanks mouthfuls! 😊

5. A Pet’s Paradise

Website: apetsparadisedenver.com
Address: 913 N Corona St
Contact: 303-863-8151
Hours: Daily 10:00AM–6:00PM
A Pet’s Paradise bridges the gap between retail and hygiene by offering comprehensive supplies alongside professional dog grooming under one roof.
They recently introduced a luxury bath service specifically designed to prioritize the comfort of animals that experience stress during maintenance.
And with over two decades of local experience, this neighborhood destination provides expert advice to help you navigate the complex market of nutritional products.
You can easily browse a highly sought-after selection of natural raw foods and holistic health remedies like Cannabidiol (CBD).
But while they excel in catering to canine and feline companions, their offerings for exotic animals are broadly categorized and less prominently featured.
Shoppers on a strict budget might also find it challenging to rely exclusively on this store due to premium price tags on featured goods.
Customer Reviews
We absolutely love this store and it’s the only place we shop for our pets. Patrick, Emily, and Kim always go above and beyond to make every visit wonderful. They’re so knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely care about both us and our pets. Because of them, we prefer to shop here locally instead of ordering online—they make every trip worth it. It’s rare to find a team that makes you feel this welcome every time, and they’ve made this our go-to pet store. Thank you for making shopping such a great experience!

Top notch pet store in Denver! The owners & employees here are knowledgeable about their stock and their suppliers, way more so than the bigger name stores around in my experience. My dog food supplier was recently bought by a larger company and the folks here were open to sharing the background info that they knew (bigger store employees had nothing to share) and let me know that they are monitoring it go forward. You can tell they care about the pets and owners that come through their shop. We’ll keep coming back!
