Address: 1430 Race Street

Contact: 720-531-2169

Hours: 24 Hours

Flora House steps away from the usual towering corporate hotels. It’s a lovingly restored 1892 Victorian mansion that blends classic bed-and-breakfast elegance with modern boutique comforts.

Here, you immediately feel transported to a quieter era without sacrificing any contemporary amenities. I recently spent a weekend here to disconnect, and the private outdoor garden with its hot tub provided the exact quiet retreat I was craving.

The property also makes exploring the neighborhood incredibly easy by providing complimentary admission passes to the nearby Denver Botanic Gardens.

On the downside, their strict prohibition on all pets means animal lovers will have to leave their furry companions at home.

For those seeking longer independent stays, checking out serviced apartments in Denver is an alternative, but this mansion remains a gorgeous short-term escape.

Pros

  • Private outdoor garden with hot tub
  • Complimentary Denver Botanic Gardens passes
  • Daily sustainability and composting practices
  • In-room humidifiers and yoga mats

Cons

  • Strict no-pets policy; no emotional support animals allowed

“Lovely place…”

We stayed here for one night as we attended a concert at the Botanic Gardens and were able to walk to the venue. Not only is it a perfect location, it’s a lovely place to stay. We stayed in the Stargazer room which was beautiful and extremely clean. There are so many amenities to use if you forget anything. The breakfast is delightful with a nice spread of fruits, cheeses, baked goods, and cured meats. We will definitely return for a staycation as we are locals!

Spacious rooms

We had a wonderful “staycation” at the Flora House! We really appreciated the fresh flowers and greenery throughout (a really nice touch). The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Bryan went out of his way to help us and make us feel welcome. We had the hot tub to ourselves and it was quite a luxury! We would definitely stay here again given the serene accommodations in such a walkable part of the city.

Address: 1750 Welton Street

Contact: +1 303 295 1234

Hours: 24 Hours

Finding a spot that caters to an active lifestyle right in the middle of downtown can be surprisingly tricky. Well, with Grand Hyatt’s central location, that problem is solved!

For starters, this hotel has a unique rooftop recreation area paired with sweeping high-altitude city views. You get the buzz of the urban core while maintaining access to expansive fitness facilities.

Guests can also easily burn off energy on the outdoor rooftop jogging track or swim in the spacious indoor pool.

Even better, they also allow you to bring up to two dogs, making it a highly convenient option for pet owners.

The major downside is that requesting an early check-in or late check-out incurs an extra fee, which can frustrate travelers wanting a bit more schedule flexibility.

Pros

  • Outdoor rooftop jogging track
  • 24-hour StayFit gym access
  • Spacious indoor pool area
  • Accommodates up to two dogs

Cons

  • Early check-in and late check-out require fees

“Incredible hotel…”

Such an incredible hotel for a staycation for a couple. Lots of hidden nooks and crannies for adult…fun. Outside of Vegas, this is the most fun we’ve had in a hotel in our 30 years.

“Consistent”

Truly one of the most consistent hotels out there.  Always super welcoming, quiet, spotless, amazing breakfast buffet, excellent pool, easy self parking, and windows that open (not very far, but always welcome!).  Nothing extravegant, but checks all the boxes every time.  Stayed here 10+ times and every visit has been great!

Those craving a truly classic escape will find that this historic and iconic hotel delivers an opulent atmosphere steeped in long-standing traditions. The Brown Palace’s architecture alone provides a stunning backdrop for your entire getaway.

Moreover, the daily afternoon tea service in the main lobby instantly makes any regular weekend feel like a luxurious celebration. It is a fantastic venue for couples celebrating anniversaries or anyone wanting to step back in time.

You have several on-site dining venues to choose from, meaning you never actually have to leave the building for a great meal.

Just keep in mind that the famous lobby tea service operates during limited afternoon hours, leaving you without an evening tea option.

Pros

  • Multiple on-site dining venues
  • Traditional lobby afternoon tea
  • On-site local coffee shop
  • Preserved historical architecture

Cons

  • Limited afternoon tea hours

Ideal for staycations

The Brown Palace is a great place to have a mini staycation or a mini getaway vacation. We really enjoyed the tea time, as well as our room. Everything was well done by the staff. We order room service one of the nights and it was great food in bed. Would highly recommend The Brown Palace to others.

Always fun

I love staying here for a staycation. Me and my partner had a fun time listening to live music at the Ships Tavern, enjoyed tea in the lobby and massages at the spa. Always a fun Denver experience!

4. Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek

Website: https://www.halcyonhotelcherrycreek.com/

Address: 245 Columbine Street

Contact: 1-720-772-5000, [email protected]

Hours: 24 Hours

Tucked away in a highly walkable neighborhood, Halcyon is an unassuming yet luxurious modern hotel offering an adventurous yet relaxed getaway.

I stayed here recently with a friend, and borrowing gear from their unique equipment garage made exploring the nearby trails effortless. The rooftop pool area adds a fantastic layer of relaxation after a busy day out.

A perk I like is that booking certain rates secures complimentary valet parking, removing a common headache associated with city driving.

However, while this location rivals the comfort of many luxury apartments in Denver, securing their advance-purchase discounts requires booking at least 10 days in advance. It isn’t for you if you’re a spontaneous traveler planning a last-minute trip.

Pros

  • Rooftop pool and hot tub
  • Complimentary outdoor Gear Garage
  • Select rates include valet parking
  • Large modern event spaces

Cons

  • Strict 10-day advance booking requirement

“Amazing”

My wife and I wanted to try something different for our anniversary this year. We decided to try a 24-hour staycation.

We stayed at the Halcyon, and it was amazing! Great room!

In 24 hours, we did everything in and around the hotel. We had dinner at Quality Italian, got into a speakeasy around the back alley of the hotel, and ended the next day with breakfast at Local Jones, the hotel restaurant.

If you want a fun getaway, I highly recommend the Halcyon hotel. It was super cool, and we will go back!

“Walking distance to all my favorite spots…”

I’m a local and this is my go-to spot anytime I want a little staycation. I absolutely love this hotel—it has the perfect vibes, and everything about it feels like a mini escape right in the city. It’s walking distance to all my favorite spots, including the mall, great restaurants, and shops. Local Jones (the hotel restaurant) is so good, and the rooftop bar Rare Bird is a must—especially on a nice day. The staff is always fantastic and makes you feel super welcome. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun, luxury getaway without going far!

5. The Crawford Hotel

Website: https://www.thecrawfordhotel.com/

Address: 1701 Wynkoop Street

Contact: 1-720-460-3700, [email protected]

Hours: 24 Hours

Train enthusiasts and history buffs will absolutely adore this luxurious boutique hotel situated on the uppermost floors of the historic Denver Union Station.

The Crawford Hotel completely immerses guests in elegant 1920s-inspired architecture while celebrating the city’s rich transit history.

You can walk straight from your room to several fantastic dining establishments located right inside the station. Even more convenient, guests can order room service from the station’s restaurants using a quick-scan code.

Notably, they also offer dedicated discounted rates for American Automobile Association (AAA) members and military personnel.

Just a heads up: Because you’re inside an active public transportation hub, you do share the immediate building with general commuters, which creates a busy atmosphere.

Pros

  • Original 1920s Art Deco architecture
  • Direct indoor access to restaurants
  • Discounted rates for military members
  • Convenient quick-scan room service

Cons

  • Shared space with public commuters
  • Busy transportation hub atmosphere

“Amazing”

This was my first time here for a staycation. The staff was amazing, the room was amazing. The location. Was just perfect with restaurants and many other fans things to do. I’d love to come back for another stay.

“Truly enjoyed our evening downtown…”

My family and I truly enjoyed our evening downtown (staycation) at The Crawford Hotel. We were greeted with professionalism and ease by Jen, and immediately felt safe and taken care of.  The room was impeccable, and the champagne my husband ordered was on ice when we arrived in the room. I mentioned to my husband the morning after our stay “I wish we could stay the week!”  Thank you, Crawford Hotel and Jen!
